The Stamford Police Department Major Crimes Unit Squad in conjunction with the Stamford State’s Attorney’s Office has concluded its homicide investigation of Modesto Santiago-Gomez, age 20, found during the overnight hours on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, said Capt. Thomas Scanlon of the Stamford Police.
Scanlon said the two suspects in the incident, Orlando Gomez-Perez age 18, and Juan Carlos Perez-Perez, age 25, both of Stamford, were originally charged with assault after they confessed to being involved in the death of Santiago-Gomez.
After a lengthy investigation, detectives have secured arrest warrants upgrading the charges for both Gomez-Perez and Perez-Perez to:
- Murder
- Conspiracy to commit murder
- Tampering with evidence.
The arrest warrants have a court-set bond of $2 million bond.
Scanlon said both men remain incarcerated at this time.
"The Stamford Police Department would like to commend the Major Crime Unit Investigators Squad “C” for conducting a thorough and detailed investigation," Scanlon said.
